GO.GMU.EDU

FAQs

General

Are go.gmu.edu shortlinks case-sensitive?

No, go.gmu.edu shortlinks are not case-sensitive.

For example:

  • go.gmu.edu/example
  • go.gmu.edu/EXAMPLE
  • go.gmu.edu/exAMPle

…would all direct users to the same target URL.

This differs from our previous Bit.ly system, where variations in case were treated as separate links. We’ve removed case-sensitivity to reduce confusion and make link management more consistent and accurate.

Is there an option to have a shortlink or QR code automatically expire after a certain date?

This feature is not currently available, but it is on our roadmap for future enhancements—we agree it
would be a valuable addition.

In the meantime, we recommend periodically reviewing your links and manually deleting any shortlinks that are no longer needed.
